Why do farmers stick an iron staff into the ground while working in the feild in rainy season.

The iron staff works like a lightning conductor. whenever an electric cloud comes over the staff, its electric charges are transfered in the ground without causing any harm . Therefore farmers stick an iron staff into the ground while working in the farm
