Why do female frogs lay hundreds of eggs

Since external fertilisation takes place, the chance of egg getting fertilised is less compared to internal fertilisation. To balance this, they lay hundreds of eggs.

because the chances of survival of their young ones is very minimum in the environment does they lay many hundreds of eggs so that the probability of their young ones to survive increases...
