because during adolescence females larynx or vocal cord reduces in the size and become smaller due to which the vibration is produced at higher rates and frequecy increases making voice high pitched and shriller. while in male the larynx increases in the size and sometimes in some boys it can be seen in neck region (adams apple). due to this the vibrations and frequency produced are less than in the girl and it becomes hoarse voice.
