why do fishes die when take out of water

Because water is their life and if they can't get it they die

AyushAgarwal191121: because fishes have gills to respire and they get oxygen dissolved in water ......there gills helps to diffuse the oxygen from the water and give away waste things .......when we take them out of the water they were unable to diffuse oxygen and their gills do not allow them to take oxygen direct from the air so they die

The Gills of the fish are modified in such a way that they can breathe only in water. If they will not respire they will die.
