Fishes respire with the help of their gills.

When fishes are taken out of water, the supply of oxygen to the fishes is cut as the fishes cannot absorb and breathe using the oxygen present in the atmosphere.

As a result they die after some time.

I hope its help for you

Answer:

because fishes can't breathe in oxygen from air .

it can only breathe from the oxygen dissolved in water.

but as we know exceptions are always there.

some fishes like whale and sharks come out from water for few seconds to breathe.

hope this helps you

warm regards
