Here is the answer:-

Gills are the respiratory organs of the fish. Gills are supplied with blood capillaries and can absorb the oxygen dissolved in water. When the water enters the fish through its mouth the dissolved oxygen is taken inside and carbon dioxide is liberated out.When fishes are taken out of the water the supply of oxygen to the fishes is cutas fishes cannot breathe using the oxygen present in the atmosphere. Hence, they die after some time.
