Why do frog and turtle lay a large number of eggs each time?

frogs & turtle lay a large no of eggs each time cuz there is a chance of damaging of their eggs by water movement ,wind , they could also be stroked by rocks etc..
due to this obstacles all eggs r not able to develop ... so they lay a number of eggs so that some eggs can develop ...
