Calorific value depends on the heat of combustion and combustion take place when fuel comes into contact with oxygen.Molecular attraction of gas molecules is less compare to solid and liquid.due to which the chemical reaction between the gas molecules and oxygen take place more efficiently it result in higher heat of combustion hence gaseous fuels have the higher calorific value.
