why do gases expands more than solids for the same increase in temperature

Answer:

Because gases have more interstitial space so a little increase in energy will increase the kinetic energy between the particles so they will start jumping and expand, but in solids if the same amount of increasing energy will be there diesel expand but not that much that the gases will expand.
