gases have neither a fixed shape nor a fixed volume because their inter-molecular force of attraction is very weak and that is why their inter molecular space (space between the molecules) is huge . due to this they do not have a fixed shape nor a fixed volume (no fixed volume since they take up the shape and volume of the container kept in).
