Platinum and gold are some of the elements that are found on the bottom of the reactivity series. This means that the two elements do not easily react with other elements. These metals are part of the group of the noble metals that have the character of least reactivity among the metals.This decrease in reactivity is due to the high ionization energies.
This is therefore why gold and platinum do not corrode in moist air as they would not react with the water or air.

hey

Gold and platinum are very least reactive metals and doesn't reacts with air and moisture easily. Because of gold is extracted from ground in pure form and doesn't have any need to go in chemical industries like other metals. ... This, gold and metal doesn't reacts with air easily.
