Question : Why do heavy trucks have 6-8 tyres ?
Answer: Heavy truck have 6 - 8 tyres at the back to increase the surface. As we know that pressure is inversely proportional to area. Hence, three double tyres are used to decrease the pressure exerted by the load on the truck on the surface of the road. Though using them increases the overall weight of the vehicle loading to less fuel economy.
