why do herbivores have longer small intestine than carnivores

Digestion of cellulose takes a longer time, because the enzymes are produced by the ruminant bacteria that live in the gut of the herbivore. Longer small intestine ensures that the food stays for a longer duration and proper digestion is possible..

this is because the Herbivores eat grass.

the grasses contain chlorophyll which is tough to digest .

hence they ave longer small intestine ..

where as the carnivores don't eat grass , they only eat flesh.which is easy to digest. hence have smaller small intestine  than herbivores.
