The person making $20k will pay the same rate on his $200,000th dollar as the higher earner when he earns it. It is not about people; it is about incomes. All people are treated equally.

As far as the incremental tax increase on incomes goes, one way to think of it is like a video game. In a video game, the difficulty increases as the player advances. As the player increases his skills (and in some games collects potions, weapons,...), the difficulty of the game increases. This makes the game better for all players....
