The availability of groundwater at an average depth of about 7 metres in the district does not give a clear picture owing to the uneven distribution of rainfall last monsoon and varying geology of given places.
For example, the groundwater level in Asifabad is the lowest at over 20 metres while it is much better at over 12 metres in neighbouring Kerameri.
Narnoor mandal is comfortably placed with presence of water at a depth of just 2 metres while the position of groundwater in neighbouring Jainoor and Sirpur (U) mandals is unavailable. These places are susceptible to drinking water problem yet again as the sandstone, limestone and Deccan trap formations in these mandals are not known to hold water reserves over a long period.
