We know that the surface tension of a liquid decreases with the increase in temperature. So, the surface tension of hot soup is less than that of cold one and hence hot soup spreads over a larger area of the tongue of a person. That makes hot soup more tasty than the cold one.

Answer:

The hot soup tastes sweeter than the cold one because the taste receptor TRPM5 become more active and become more intense when food is hot, and send stronger signal to brain.
