May be since gestational period of a human female and her lifespan gave a limit to number of children that can be given birth by her and so preformed ova and continuous formation of ovum may not have made much of difference in number of babies formed but for preformed ovum no resources should be spent again for formation of ovum and the same resources can be directed in forming a good nutrition and protection of egg that will be ovulated in each menstrual cycle. So preformed ovum might have given us some evolutionary advantage over our ancestors who had some other mechanism.
