Why do human female produces one gamete and male produces two gametes

Human male and female produce only one kind of gamete.female produce egg and male produce sperm. The difference is in the sex chromosome present in these gamete. Female egg cell only produce X type sexchromosome,whereas human male produces both X and Y types of sex chromosome.

XX - produce female
XY- produce male

This is to ensure that both male and female offsprings are produced during reproduction,for the continuation of species.Humans reproduce sexually hence they need both the parents.
