The reason is given below:
The 23rd chromosomal pair in the body of females consists of two X chromosomes known as the sex chromosomes. When meiosis occurs at the time of formation of gamete, each gamete receives one X chromosomes. While the the 23rd chromosomal pair in the male body consists of one X and one Y chromosomes. So, the female body of humans produces one type of gamete only whereas the male body is responsible for producing two kinds of gametes.
Some other points:
• When one X chromosome of the body of female fuses with the Y chromosome of the body of male, it results in the formation of a baby boy.
• When one chromosome X of the female body of humans comes in contact with chromosome X of the body of male humans, it leads to the formation of a baby girl.
