because it is the side which is touch to the ground......for that it's don't get the sun rays.....that's why it's yellow

When you lift the watermelon, it should seem heavy for its size, which means it is full of water and therefore ripe. The underside of the melon should have a creamy yellow spot, known as the field spot, which is where the melon sat on the ground while it ripened.
