One of the other commenters here is correct that it will be good if you can work hard by doing it for yourself (is there a subject you find particularly fascinating? Can you set up a program to explore different subjects and/or hobbies that might lead to a career? Are there meetup groups in your town that you might be interested in? Being interested in something because YOU find it interesting is much better than because of parental pressure (which after all, just makes one not want to study because it reminds you of the things about the parents, and it seems like getting good grades is capitulating to them and takes the fun out of it), but studying well will have benefits for you that no one can take away, not even the parents.
