The plants which feed on insects are called insectivorous plants. These plants are partially heterotrophs and partially autotrophs.
Which means that even though they can synthesis their own food they feed on their insects.
This is because even though they are able to complete all their energy needs from photosynthesis but the soil that they grow on is deficient in nitrogen.
Insects are a rich source of protein so they feed on them.
