why do ionic compound are high melting points

Because force of atraction b/w them is very strong therefore bonds cant easily be broken

ionic bonds r formed by large amount of energy and their bonding are strong

to break this strong chemical bonding large amount of energy is required

so its melting point is high


e.g..NACL has melting point of298K
