Ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points. It is because of strong force of attraction between oppositely charged ions, therefore high energy is required to break the metallic bonds between ions.

In an ionic compound there is large electrostatic force of attraction between opposite charged ions. To overcome these forces a considerable amount of energy is needed therefore ionic compounds have high melting points.✔️✔️✔️✔️
