ionic compounds are generally soluble in polar solvents like water and insoluble in non polar organic solvents because molecules of the polar solvents like water can overcome the force of attraction between the ions in the crystals of the ionic solute and as a result the ions becomes mobile and disperse in all directions in the polar solvent.Non polar solvents or the organic solvents cannot overcome the force of attraction between the ions of the ionic compound.Hence, ionic compound don't dissolve in organic solvents.
