The kabaddi players rub their hand with dry soil due to these reasons--
1)Their Sweat won't make their hands wet as soil will absorb moisture.
2)It will give roughness to their hands.
3)It will increase friction between their hands and the opponent's body so that they can get a better grip on them.

They do so because they don't want their opponents to slip of their hands. Kabaddi players have oil massage so they often get slipped of. But this is prevented due to soil.
