Why do large cations stabilise large anions and small cations stabilise small anions?

IT'S THE RULE :- THAT THE LARGER THE ANION WILL NEED AN LARGER ANION TO GET IT'S ELECTRONS SAME IS THE CASE FOR SMALLER ANIONS AND CATIONS ❗❗☺
