Lichens are the organisms which adapt themselves to extreme climatic conditions. They can grow on rocks, decaying wood logs, tree barks etc. They grow in different forests like even temperate forests at high altitudes.

Lichen are highly adaptable and grow in varied climates including extrems. Through they are more common in areas with less sun light and damp water.
