Explanation:

In liquids the molecules are loosely packed and there is a lot of empty spaces between them compared to solids. Hence when heated, the molecules starting moving faster in the space available to them. In liquids they move more than solids and as a result their volume changes. The change of volume in seen as expansion and therefore liquids expand more than solids on heating...
