Every cell that is capable of undergoing division passes through a cyclic sequence of events involving growth and division. It is called Cell Cycle. It encompasses the entire sequence of events that occur in a cell from the time it is formed from its parent cell till the time of its own division into daughter cells. Mitosis is just one part of the cell cycle. In fact, the mitotic (M) phase, which includes both mitosis and cytokinesis, is usually the shortest part of the cell cycle. Mitotic cell division alternates with a much longer stage called interphase,
That's why, M phase is called the divisional phase,

M phase :-
1) M phase is also called mitosis phase .
2) When a cell comes in M phase it starts cell division .
3) In M phase there is division of nucleus of the cell .
4) Average duration of cell cycle which is 24 hours took by the cell in this phase . Therefore we can say that in M phase a cell perform 95% of its cell cycle .

Why do M phase is divisional phase :
- M phase is dividing phase because there is two types of division first is nuclear division and 2nd is cytoplasmic division .
- M phase is divided into five category :
- prophase
- metaphase
- anaphase
- telophase
- cytokinesis
____________________________
- In M phase corresponding of separation of daughter chromosomes take place .
- In M phase number of chromosomes in daughters cells is equal to mother cell .
