All managers have responsibilities and authority over the people they manage. Different types of power are what puts some “teeth” into their authority.
How effective can a manager be without some or all of these powers? Hiring, firing, writing up, promoting, reassigning and evaluating. A boss with no power to do anything to or for employees for poor or excellent actions would be a “ toothless tiger” and probably not very successful at all
