Humans kill animals through hunting, slaughter for food and medical experiments. These are direct ways. Humans indirectly kill animals by destroying habitat including filling in wetlands, dredging rivers, mowing fields, and lowering trees.

Four reasons why men kill animals are :

Animal sacrifice (for a deity)

  • In various states of India and Nepal some Hindu temples sacrifice goats and chickens.
  • Occasionally water buffalos also are sacrificed. In Islam sheep is sacrificed during their festival.
  • Animals are sacrificed for the religious observations.

Animal slaughter (for food)

  • Animal slaughter is that the killing of nonhuman animals, and sometimes refers to the slaughter of livestock.
  • Animals could also be slaughtered for humans to obtain food, and also if they're diseased and unable to be consumed as food.

Animal hunting (for sport, for fur and other animal products, etc.)

  • Hunting is that the hunting of large animals, nearly always large terrestrial mammals, for meat, other animal by-products (such as horn or bone), trophy or sport.
  • These animals are usually lion, African elephant , Cape buffalo , leopard and rhinoceros and with tigers and rhinoceroses on the Indian subcontinent.

Animal roadkill (by accident) or self-defense

  • Animals are often killed by moving vehicles, this is often known as roadkill.
  • They are available in the path of running vehicles and get killed unknowing.

Since 1970 about 60% of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles are wiped out by humans. Scientists are now of the opinion that the extinction of animal species is that the gravest threat to human civilization at the time.
