Why do metals lose shine/luster with time ?

it is effect of air and moisture.metals like iron, aluminium etc, reacts with mosit air and oxidised and lose their shine

Metals like gold, iron, etc. have very shiny appearance.

Air contains moisture or you can say water and oxygen.

We know that when metal reacts with either oxygen rich air or water it will get oxidised.

Hence, when these metal get oxidised they will form a coat on it and hence loose shine.
