Why do most countries have a standard time

Countries have a standard time to prevent the confusion because a country may be too big in length. So time differs with longitude. Time in one corner of country might be different from the time in that corner of the country. Like in India, time in Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh is different. So to prevent confusion, time of Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) is taken as standard time.
