When we exhale the air at sea level, the climatic stress of about 14.7 pounds per square inch makes oxygen to readily pass through selectively penetrable lung membranes into the blood. At high elevations, the lowering air pressure makes it more challenging for oxygen to penetrate in our vascular systems. The outside air pressure is intense than it is inside your lungs, making it more challenging to pull in the thinner air and for your arteries to pump oxygen completely in the body. As a consequence, the body kicks into overdrive and mountaineers suffer from nose bleeding which became consequent at higher altitudes.
