Noble gases are least reactive. Their inertness to chemical reactivity is due to the following reasons.
1) The noble gases except helium(1s2) have completely filled ns2np6 electronic configuration in their valence shell.
2) They have high ionization enthalpy.
3) They have more positive electron gain enthalpy.
Hence noble gases have no tendency to gain, lose or share electrons under ordinary conditions and remain almost inert under ordinary conditions.
