Speed itself is not a factor of causing things to heat up - hitting other things (friction) is though.
Fast moving objects in a vacuum don’t get any hotter at all - but fast moving objects in the air do - because of the continuous friction with the atmosphere.
If you want to try this - take a rope, hold fairly tightly - and then pull it through your hands.
You’ll quickly find friction causes the rope to heat up.
The same thing happens when you force any object through another medium.
