Why do only male gametes have a tail?

I think the spermshave a tail because the tail helps the sperm to move in the female uterus for fusion... Hope that helps:-)

     The gametes are reproductive cells.  Male gamete called the sperm, is small and mobile.  Female gamete called ova or egg.  Egg is not mobile.  The sperm has a long tail like structure called flagellum, that helps to move towards the ova and merge in it for formation of diploid cells.  That is the fertilization during reproduction activity.
