Why do passangers tend to fall side ways when the bus takes sharp turn?

It is mainly due to inertia
Passengers in a bus tend to fall side ways whikle taking a sharp turn is because they have the tendency to continue their (straight line ) motion.
Another such example is that passengers tend to fall back when bus applies brake.
