Why do passengers tend to fall side way when the bus takes sharp u turn

Due to this phenomenon called inertia, which is tendency to stay in rest, or motion, when the bus is moving, even we are in motion, towards that direction.And when it turns left(for example), we tend to move towards right due to inertia(tendency of our body to remain in the same state we were before).

When the bus stops suddenly, people fall forward because their inertia as they are in state of motion even when the bus has come to rest.
