It's very complicated to explain because everyone have their own reasons. Insecurities, power trips, and incompetence are all reasons people resort to bullying, behavior that can occur in schools and workplaces. Often it's used as a defence mechanism and people tend to believe that by bullying others, they will become dominant and improve their social status. They're are many more examples like The Bully has been bullied before, Family problems etc.
