Factors Making Transition between School and University Challenging
As we grow old, we find life is like a flowing river which we can never stop. Change is the only constant. Similarly, the transition between school and university is also quite challenging initially. There are many factors behind this. Let’s ponder over a few of them briefly.
1. Aversion to change: Basically all human beings don’t like changes. When the change of shifting from school to college comes, our inborn aversion to change resists this change. We don’t accept it smilingly. The fear of the unknown makes us feel uncomfortable.
2. Fear of losing old friends, teachers, etc.: Usually we spend lots of years at school. We become attached to our class fellows, teachers, school building, etc. Just before graduating to college or university, the fear of going away from these beloved things makes us detest the transition.
3. Fear of the new college/ university: As we are about to enter university or college, we are completely unfamiliar about so many aspects related to it. Travelling to new building, new unfamiliar route, new professors, new class-mates, etc. all make us uneasy.
These are a few reasons that make the transition between school and college challenging. However, we soon become accustomed to these changes, and begin to feel at home at university.
