why do people paint iron gate of their garden

they do it to protect their gate without rusting because the outside weather changes and they must prevent their gates from getting oxidised or ruster as iron gets rust as it gets into contact with atmospheric oxygen and water.so as a method of prevention they paint it for long lasting goo quality of the fence.
