In hot summer days, roof of our respective houses generally gets hot. Thus, we sprink water our roof so that water droplets absorb heat of roof. They will uses this hiddin form of heat or latent heat to overcome intermolecular force of attraction and changes into gases state.

This prcoess of changing into gas without reaching its boiling point is called evaporation which leads to cooling effect and hence cools roofs of our houses.
