Mountaineers carry an oxygen cylinder along with them. It is because when they climb mountains, as altitude increases, the amount of oxygen level in the atmospheric air decreases as trees are not found at higher altitudes. As a result, mountaineers suffer from dizziness.

Answer:
At extreme altitude (5500-8848 m) supplementary oxygen can be used to prevent the effects of severe hypoxia. Although Everest has been climbed without oxygen, most climbers use supplementary oxygen above 6500 m.
