Why do pieces of ice added to a drink, cool it much faster than cold water added to it?

Neharika111: because it has the latent heat of fusion
Neharika111: which cools better than cold water

ice cube is a solid that needs the latent heat of fusion to change into cool water as water has more energy than the solid ice cubes therefore ice cubes cool more faster than cold water added to drink

ice is colder than water at room temperature because ice molecules moves slowly and forms cluster tightly and produces relatively small heat
