While many have suggested that pigs wallow in mud because of a lack of sweat glands, pigs and other wallowing animals may have not evolved functional sweat glands because wallowing was a part of their behavioural repertoire. Pigs are genetically related to animals such as hippopotamus and whales.

Pigs have less sweat pores on their bodies. During high temperature days , the temperature of pigs body increases. We all know that the temperature of the bodies is controlled through the sweating. But pigs have less sweat pores, this process of evaporation doesn't take place in pigs , that is the reason why pigs toil in the mud during hot summer's.

Hope this helps.
