Why do planets move slower along their orbits when they are farthest from the sun at apogre and faster when nearest at perigee from the sun?

As the planets reach further away from the sun the less gravitational pull the sun has on them so because they are not as influenced by the gravitational pull by the sun they move slower the further away they are
