Why do plants begin to die when excess of fertilizers are added in the soil?

When excess of fertilizer is added to plants and it must be adversely affect the absorption of water by the roots .
As excess of all fertilizer start increase and also make soil hypertonic and also decrease the availability of water for the plan.
Here the water get move out from the root cells.
