why do plants die if their roots are cut off?

Because roots are the main part of a plant you can say that roots are the oxygen of a plant and if it is cut off then the plant would die definitely

It is beacuse the absorbs minerals , nutrients ,water etc. from roots....and if their roots die they cannot take necessary things.....
